Freestyle Figure Skating Sessions
Figure skating brings together athletic skill, creativity, and artistry. At the Olympic Ice Skating Centre, we offer dedicated ice time so skaters can practise jumps, spins, choreography, and competition routines in a supportive setting.
If you are moving through the Aussie Skate program or working with a private coach, our freestyle sessions help you build your skills and confidence on the ice.
Our rink has welcomed generations of figure skaters, providing a friendly place to learn, train, and grow within the local skating community.
Not Sure Which Session Is Right for You?
New skaters interested in figure skating should begin in our Skate School program, where they learn the fundamental skating skills required for freestyle training.
With the Aussie Skate badge system, skaters move through levels as they build confidence, balance, and control on the ice.
Once you reach Level 1 Aussie Skate or higher, you can start attending freestyle sessions to keep improving your figure skating skills.
Freestyle Figure Skating Sessions
Dedicated Ice Time for Training
Freestyle sessions give skaters uninterrupted ice time to practise their technical skills and routines. During these sessions, skaters work on: combinations
• spins and spin variations
• choreography and program run-throughs
• skating skills and edge control
• private coaching lessons
• competition preparation
These sessions offer a structured space where skaters can focus on improving their skills with others who are just as dedicated.
Freestyle Session Requirements
To join freestyle sessions, skaters need to meet these requirements:
Minimum Level
Skaters must hold a Level 1 Aussie Skate badge or higher.
A Level 1 badge shows that all skaters have the skills needed to practise safely during freestyle sessions.
