About Us
For generations, the Olympic Ice Skating Centre has been more than just an ice rink. It feels like a second home. Families have grown up here, friendships have started here, and many first steps, first goals, and lifelong memories have happened on our ice. Right in the heart of Oakleigh, we’re known for our community spirit, family values, and love of skating and hockey. We help kids take their first glide, welcome adults back to the ice, and give families a place to skate together. With learn-to-skate programs, grassroots hockey, public sessions, birthday parties, and school holiday activities, it’s easy for everyone to join in.
Our story is closely tied to Australian ice hockey. Before bigger arenas came along, the Melbourne Ice played their first games here in Oakleigh as one of the founding clubs of the Australian Ice Hockey League. Those early years helped shape hockey in Melbourne and built the grassroots spirit that still defines our rink. We’re still dedicated to helping new players grow while honouring the legacy that started here.
Our people make us unique. Friendly staff greet you at the front desk, help you find the right skates and helmets, and guide you onto the ice. Coaches encourage, parents cheer from the sidelines, and many former juniors return years later to show their own children where they learned to skate. We keep our space inclusive and welcoming, with accessible facilities, skating aids, and supportive areas so everyone feels comfortable and valued.
Our main goal is to create a safe, supportive place where everyone feels they belong. With flexible session times, online booking, family-friendly features, and a café for relaxing between skates, we make every visit easy and enjoyable.
The Olympic Ice Skating Centre is more than just a part of Melbourne’s sporting history. It’s part of people’s lives. Every day, we keep building the traditions that bring our community back to the ice.
What memory will you make here next?
